This style seems to be her own hair, with the front and sides styled casually, having the back pulled up to the crown with lift. The pulled out sections creating a fantail are probably an added embellishment, however.

This look appears to have been done in a classic way, by simply pulling hair back into a low-riding band, folding length in half by rolling it under, then rebanding it back into the same ponytail. The doubled over style will fan out naturally, more so with very dense hair. Simply cover up the band by a tendril you have pulled out or worn left out for this purpose. Pin end into place ensuring that it remains unseen.
Sleek and elegant, Rihanna has a simple, sedu style that hits at just the right length. It’s short enough to place a bend or a flip if desired, yet long enough to place in an updo where her highlights would really be embellished.
